About Maïna.
Photographer & zine maker, based in Squamish, BC, located on the unceded territory of the Sḵwx̱ú7mesh people. I’m grateful everyday to live on this land.
My fascination with photography started at an early age. A few years after graduating from photography school (ETPA), I immigrated from France to Canada in 2014.
While my work primarily involved editorial work and portraiture in the first few years of my career, I shifted my approach toward more storytelling, fine art, and documentary style during the pandemic.
I discovered zines at a workshop, which I followed in 2022 by publishing my first pamphlet zine, "Seule." This work revolves around loneliness and mental health, and I have since been working on and producing many zines in almost all formats. I’ve also been lucky to share my work and teach zine making in Squamish, BC.
My style and my interests have changed a million times, and as it keeps evolving, my portfolio is slowly transitioning toward a style of photography that speaks to my heart, involving horses and people who love them.
More recently, I've included creative writing as a companion to my visual art and hope to publish my first novel in the next few years.
My zines are currently available at the Squamish Public Library and the Brackendale Art Gallery or copies can be order on this website.
